Our approach
MEDICLINIQ Academy is the medical training program in laser and energy-based technologies of the MEDICLINIQ clinic in Punta Carretas, Montevideo. It is designed for physicians who want to bring these technologies into their clinical practice in aesthetic dermatology, aesthetic medicine, plastic surgery, aesthetic gynecology or related fields, and it requires no prior laser experience. The program combines scientific foundations, laser safety, patient selection, clinical indications, treatment protocols and supervised hands-on training. It includes in-person and online theory classes, structured study materials, clinical case discussions, supervised practice with real patients and academic assessment. Adopting these technologies takes far more than knowing a device: it means understanding how light, energy and tissue interact, selecting the right patient, defining precise indications, adjusting parameters safely and preventing complications.
Applied scientific foundations
Understanding the interaction between energy, light, chromophores and tissue. Physicians learn to recognize the main chromophores (melanin, hemoglobin and water) and the fundamentals of IPL, Q-Switched laser, Nd:YAG, fractional CO₂, LLLT and other energy-based technologies, so they understand what happens in the tissue before treating a patient.
Clinical reasoning
Appropriate selection of patients, indications and technologies based on diagnosis. The training builds the judgment to tell when to treat, when to combine and when not to treat, and to identify risk factors before treatment. Clinical case discussions help every decision start from the patient's diagnosis rather than from the available device.
Advanced laser safety
Complication prevention, eye protection, biosafety and initial management of adverse events. The program teaches how to prevent common complications such as burns, dyschromia, scarring or overtreatment, and how to apply safety and clinical documentation protocols: medical records, informed consent and photographic follow-up of every patient.
Supervised hands-on training
Progressive application of clinical protocols in a real medical setting. Practice takes place with real patients and under supervision, on platforms such as Lumenis Stellar M22, Lutronic Hollywood Spectra, Lumenis AcuPulse and Alma Laser PrimeX, so knowledge turns into medical practice progressively, safely and in a way that applies to daily clinical work.
